The results of the conducted poll indicate that only a third of the Swiss population own their home. Whereas 8% of the homeowners live in an owned flat 26% live in an owned house. In comparison to that, from the two-thirds who rent their home more live in an apartment than a house.
The Swiss relocate on average six times in their lives
Women aged between 50 and 59 years are especially likely to live in an owned home. They usually reside in a rural area. In contrast, the majority of tenants are male between 40 and 49 years and reside in a town.
The Swiss would be willing to spend a maximum of 30% of their net income on housing, which tallies with the amount that they claim to spend at the moment.
A noticeable amount of 70% of Swiss who inhabit a rented flat believe that the cost of living is growing.
The percentage of Swiss people who live in a single household amounts to 21%.
Only 6.8% of Swiss citizens have a second home. Most of the secondary residences are located in a rural area in Switzerland and used for holiday purposes.
